Frequently Asked Questions

IPL stands for 'Intense Pulsed Light' . Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is one of the most common and reliable permanent hair removal methods around the world. The treatment uses light to absorb melanin (the dark colour in your hair and skin). This light then converts to heat which damages the hair producing cells to impede hair growth and achieve effective and painless hair removal.

Home IPL hair removal devices apply very gentle pulses of light to the hair root. This makes the hair go into its resting phase: the hair you have falls out, and gradually your body grows less hair in that area.

Adhering to the recommended standard set by FDA, the light wavelength emitted by Beauty-snug handset is calibrated to 430nm-1200nm which is perfect for targeting hair follicles at the average depth in our skin. IPL has been used for many years and is a safe & effective method for removing unwanted hair. Numerous research studies have demonstrated the safety of using IPL hair removal.

One of the many advantages of our Handset over other types of laser is that it is no pain. Some normal sensations described by our users are “rubber band snapping sensation” which only happens to some people (depending on the skin’s sensitivity and pain tolerance) when they use a high setting like level 4 or 5. There are 5 levels of power intensity to choose from. New users can start by using level 1 and gradually increase up to level 5 according to their own comfort.

Just like all light based treatments, IPL hair removal works by emitting a multi spectrum light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigments in the hair and quickly turns to heat. The heat then travels down along the hair and targets the hair follicles responsible for hair growth, putting these follicles to sleep! With enough treatment, sticking to the recommended treatment plan and settings, visible results can be achieved in 6 - 8 weeks. We recommend using your handset once a week.

Our handsets come with a 12V power supply. Just plug in the power when using the ipl hair removal. No need to charge.

Most people begin to notice a reduction of hair growth and finer hair or slow regrowth, just after 6 - 8 weeks. Significant differences can be seen after 8 - 12 weeks. We recommend users to use according to the guideline provided in the user manual for the course of treatment to be the most effective. (Results may vary from person to person depending on the coarseness of hair and skin tones.)

Suitable to target most body parts. such as the face, underarm, legs and bikini area.

Shaving the treatment areas before your IPL and laser sessions works best. This is why is works best: Shaving cuts your hairs super-close to your skin. The goal is for light energy to reach the hair follicles quickly and efficiently without letting the energy go to waste by heating up the entire strand of hair

IPL is safe for use on the bikini line, but it isn't suitable for the genital area where the skin may have a darker colour and where there is a greater hair density, which would absorb more light energy and may cause discomfort.

IPL is suitable for all but the darkest skin tone. This is because IPL’s light energy may be more attracted to the pigments in the skin rather than melanin in the hair. Skins with dense melanin are not advisable to use it.

No, using Beauty-snug’s handset more often than recommended will not speed up the hair removal process. Do not treat the same area multiple times in one session as this will not improve efficacy and can cause skin irritation.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors under the sun, waxing is a more suitable option for you, as IPL leads to photo-sensitivity in the treated area. Sunburnt and tanned skin cannot tolerate IPL treatments; hence it's advisable not to take the risk of damaging your skin further.
